Indian team departs for Australia
Addressing a press conference on the eve of the team's departure for a four-match Test series, followed by a tri-series, Down Under, Kumble expressed hopes that the in-form batsmen, specially the middle order, would put enough runs on the board to give a cushion to the bowlers.
"We have people in the middle order with over 30,000 runs and I think we will be able to handle whatever comes our way. I have been saying that if we have the runs on the board, our bowlers have the ability to get the wickets," Kumble said.
The seasoned leggie also hoped that the senior players, touring Australia for the last time, would stand up and be counted against Ricky Ponting and his men.
"For some of the senior players, it's probably their last tour to Australia. It's important we go out there and do well," said Kumble.
"It's a tough challenge to play Australia in Australia but we are ready for the challenge. We have the potential and players to win the series in Australia," said ace leg spinner.
"We had a very good series against Pakistan. We won the One-day as well as the Test series which is a confidence booster for doing well in Australia," India's highest Test wicket taker proclaimed.
"We have quality in the side. We have enough experience of Australian conditions to adjust to them which is a pre-requisite of international cricket. The potential in the side and the players' experience will help," he added.
Administrative Manager of the team and former opener Chetan Chauhan predicted that just like the team had stopped Australia's magnificent run of 16 successive Test wins in 2001, India would halt the world champions' run of 14 Test victories on the trot this time.
"I was the manager when we stopped Australia's run of 16 Test wins. I am manager again and we are going to Australia.
"They have won 14 Tests in a row. We will stop them and create history (by becoming the first Indian squad to win a Test rubber in Australia). That will be our endeavour," he said.
Kumble, meanwhile, brushed aside concerns that the team would find it difficult to adjust with only one warm-up tie before the first Test starts on December 26 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and the Kookaburra balls used in Australia.
"We have played lot of cricket and have 10 days before the first Test to get adjusted.
"We are all comfortable with using the Kookaburra ball too. We have played with it before and talk about the ball is only in the media and not among us," the ace spinner said.
Kumble welcomed the return of Virender Sehwag and said the Delhi opener did not have to be told anything else to boost his confidence after the selectors reposed their faith and included him in the squad.
"Viru is a quality player. The very fact he's in the team is a big confidence booster. It gives us an attacking option," he said.
Kumble admitted that the squad would miss the bowling of S Sreesanth and Munaf Patel, who are not in the team because of fitness reasons, but said their absence has given an opportunity for newcomers Ishant Sharma and Pankaj Singh.
Kumble also welcomed the dilemma on how to include in-form batsman Yuvraj Singh in the Test eleven.
"It's a healthy problem to have. We have to sit down and assess it after looking at the conditions on how to fit in Yuvraj," the Bangalore stalwart explained.
On the possibility of facing sledging, he said, "We prefer our cricket to do all the talking and that's our goal. We would like to play good and aggressive cricket. If we can do that they we will do well."
Australia will be without bowling greats Glenn McGrath and Shane Warne but Kumble said their attack could not be underestimated.
"They were not there last time too (did not play the series in 2004) and they are a strong side. But having said that we have the quality, the ability and skills to play them."
Kumble, meanwhile, felt sorry that Murali Kartik could not be accommodated in the side.
"It's tough on him. The best two spinners are in (Kumble and Harbhajan Singh). You can't have everyone," he said.

Sangakkara Leads World Test Rankings

Sri Lanka's prolific Kumar Sangakkara took over as the number one Test batsman after his record-breaking feats in the first Test against England, according to official new rankings released Thursday.
Sangakkara's team-mate Muttiah Muralitharan, who this week overtook retired Australian Shane Warne as the leading wicket-taker, already tops the Test rankings for bowlers, according to the International Cricket Council rankings.
Left-handed Sangakkara, 30, continued his brilliant recent form by making 92 and a match-winning 152 to help Sri Lanka defeat England by 88 runs in the Kandy Test on Wednesday.

Madhuri is back .... Aaja Nachle

Director: Anil Mehta
Cast: Madhuri Dixit, Konkona Sen Sharma, Kunal Kapoor, Akshaye Khanna, Ranvir Shorey, Irfan Khan
Music: Salim Merchant, Sulaiman Merchant
Cinematographer: Anil Mehta
Story: Jaideep Sahni
Producer: Aditya Chopra
Madhuri is back , after a long gap following her marriage. She still looks ravishing in the stills with her alluring smile and graceful dancing movements.
The story revolves around a dancer and her pursuit to save the institution developed by her guru.

Dia (Madhuri Dixit), a dancer, is in New York. She gets a shock of her life when she gets a call from India. The call conveys that her beloved guru Makarand (Darshan Zariwala) is dying. Now she has to return to Shamli town, where she grew up, and learnt to live and to dance. It is also the town she left severing ties with her parents and her people following a misunderstanding with them.
She comes back to her town. It is a poignant and troubled return. Her guru passed away. Worse, the institution that he so lovingly nurtured is in decay and under threat of getting demolished.
It is Ajanta theatre, which was once functioning as vibrant hub of the community. Dia's fondest memories are embedded in the place. It is now on the verge of being brought down because the local political authorities feel it a waste of prime real estate.

Dia, the dedicated student, sets out on a mission to prevent the destruction and resurrect the spirit of Ajanta. She gets the help of the Doctor (Raghubir Yadav), the caretaker of Ajanta.
The atmosphere is not encouraging. It is filled with doubt, cynicism and hostility. Amidst this environment, Dia picks up the gauntlet with the determination of saving the place. She plans to achieve a near impossible task of putting together a theatrical production. She must ensure that every member of the production is from Shamli town. The bulldozers are waiting. She has only two months to prove her point.
It is a strenuous struggle. She has to deal with a lot of prejudices, encounter the resentment of the powerful contractor, tackle the cynicism of the local political powers, resolve the delicate tensions of inter personal relationships. Apart from this, she has to rally her motley team of non starters to create the production.

She has to deal with a raw team - a team consists of low level muscle Imran (Kunal Kapoor), the local tomboy Anokhi (Konkona Sen), local ex-MLA Chaudhary Om Singh (Akhilendra Mishra), a vulnerable tea stall owner Mohan Sharma (Ranvir Shorey), a responsible government official Mr. Chojar (Vinay Pathak), a struggling insurance agent Sanjeev Mehta (Jugal Hansraj), and the town vagabond Dhankuber (Nowaz).
She is determined to tackle everything to save Ajanta. She wants to preserve what her guru so lovingly nurtured.
The movie is releasing on November 30 ,this friday.

Captain Kumble new innings- Ind vs Pak 1 st Test match

Kumble perfect 10 at the same venue against the same opponents now cricketing lore, Anil Kumble would renew his tryst with Ferozeshah Kotla when he makes his debut as Indian captain in the first of the three Test matches against Pakistan starting here from Thursday.
Given a choice, Kumble would have loved to roll the 22-yard Kotla strip, pack it in his bag and take it home after he claimed all 10 wickets in Pakistan's second innings in that unforgettable second Test in 1999.
Since then, Kumble has become one of the most senior players in the dressing room, and when he walks out for the toss with counterpart Shoaib Malik, he would expect the Kotla to be as benign as it was eight years ago.
The beginning, however, has not been auspicious. The bowling attack lost some of its teeth and firepower with the vastly improved RP Singh and highly inflammable S Sreesanth reduced to benchwarmers by injuries.
RP has been in red hot form since the UK tour, while Sreesanth proved he is as much a wicket-taker with the ball as a rabble-rouser with his antics.
Though Munaf Patel and Ishant Sharma have been rushed in as cover, the void would be hard to fill. Till Munaf joined the squad, Kumble had at his disposal two pacers Zaheer Khan and Irfan Pathan against three spinners Harbhajan Singh, Murali Kartik and himself.(Source:India times)

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Traditionally, the festival was a time used by the ancient pagans to take stock of supplies and slaughter livestock for winter stores. The Ancient Gaels believed that on October 31, the boundaries between the worlds of the living and the dead overlapped and the deceased would come back to life and cause havoc such as sickness or damaged crops. The festivals would frequently involve bonfires, where the bones of slaughtered livestock were thrown. Costumes and masks were also worn at the festivals in an attempt to mimic the evil spirits or placate them. When the Romans occupied Celtic territory, several Roman traditions were also incorporated into the festivals. Feralia, a day celebrated in late October by the Romans for the passing of the dead as well as a festival which celebrated the Roman Goddess Pomona, the goddess of fruit were incorporated into the celebrations. The symbol of Pomona was an apple, which is a proposed origin for the tradition of bobbing for apples on Halloween.

Halloween is very popular in Ireland, where it is believed to have originated, and is known in Irish as Oíche Shamhna, literally "Samhain Night". Pre-Christian Celts had an autumn festival, Samhain, "End of Summer", a pastoral and agricultural "fire festival" or feast, when the dead revisited the mortal world, and large communal bonfires would hence be lit to ward off evil spirits.
On Halloween night in present-day Ireland, adults and children dress up as creatures from the underworld (e.g., ghosts, ghouls, zombies, witches and goblins), light bonfires, and enjoy spectacular fireworks displays, despite the fact that such displays are usually illegal. It is also common for fireworks to be set off for the entire month preceeding Halloween, as well as a few days after. Halloween was perceived as the night during which the division between the world of the living and the otherworld was blurred so spirits of the dead and inhabitants from the underworld were able to walk free on the earth. It was believed necessary to dress as a spirit or otherworldly creature when venturing outdoors to blend in, and this is where dressing in such a manner for Halloween comes from. This gradually evolved into trick-or-treating because children would knock on their neighbours' doors, in order to gather fruit, nuts, and sweets for the Halloween festival. Salt was once sprinkled in the hair of the children to protect against evil spirits.
In places of Ireland, huge bonfires are lit. Young children in disguise are gladly received by the neighbors with "fruit, miniature chocolate bars, loose change, peanuts and of course sweets" for the "Halloween Party", whilst older male siblings play innocent pranks on their bewildered victims. Some homes will put up decorations including Halloween lights. Since schoolchildren have the week off for Halloween, it is common for teenagers and college students to spend weeknights out with friends pranking and causing mischief, if not trick-or-treating themselves.

AIRBUS A380 (First Double decker flight )
FLIGHT TEST CREW PAYS TRIBUTE TO THE A380
First customer is Singapore Airlines.
Moments after emerging from the cockpit of the A380 after its successful first flight, chief test pilot Jacques Rosay said flying the world’s biggest passenger jet had been “like handling a bicycle.”

As captain for the take-off and the initial part of the test flight, he lavished praise on the aircraft for its performance: “This aircraft is very, very easy to fly. Any Airbus pilot will feel immediately at ease with this aircraft, a pure member of the Airbus family.”
He described the take-off as “totally perfect” and paid tribute to the Airbus designers and the customer pilots who worked together to design the cockpit. “The cockpit makes the work for the crew easier and safer. It’s an excellent cockpit – and an excellent aircraft.”

Other members of the flight test crew also praised the aircraft’s performance. Claude Lelaie, senior vice president flight division at Airbus, who took over the captaincy for the second part of the test flight including the landing, said: “It was a great pleasure to perform this first flight on this marvellous aircraft.”

Fernando Alonso, chief flight test engineer and vice president flight test division, said the A380’s take-off weight for the first flight, at 421 tonnes, was the greatest take-off weight of any aircraft in the world. “In terms of systems everything worked fine,” he said. “It’s an extremely comfortable aircraft.”
Noël Forgeard, Airbus president and CEO, said he and Charles Champion, executive vice president for the A380 programme, were “extremely proud of everyone who made this happen”.

Healthy Tips
Triglycerides are fats found in the blood and fat cells. A high triglyceride level in the blood may increase your risk of heart disease and may harm your pancreas.
What Can Cause High Triglycerides?
Foods That Raise Triglyceride Levels
Best Food Choices
Additional Tips
What Can Cause High Triglycerides?
Lifestyle factors: Lack of exercise, being overweight, smoking, skipping meals and eating large portions of foods at one time.
Dietary factors: Excessive intake of alcohol, saturated and trans fat, sugar, starch and calories.
Medical history: Poorly controlled diabetes, insulin resistance (a precursor to diabetes), polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), kidney disease, some medications and family history.
Foods That Raise Triglyceride Levels
The following foods and beverages contain nutrients that raise triglyceride levels and should be limited.
Alcohol: Beer, wine, hard liquor and liqueurs.
Saturated fats: Fats solid at room temperature, including animal fats, lard, butter and shortening. Also, fried foods, whole milk, whole milk dairy products, cheese, cream cheese, high-fat meats and fast foods.
Trans fats: Hydrogenated fats found in margarine, vegetable shortening, fried foods, fast foods and most commercial snack foods such as pastries, cakes, pies, crackers, etc.
Sugar: Concentrated sweets such as sugar, honey, molasses, jams, jellies and candy. Desserts such as pies, cakes, cookies, candy, doughnuts, ice cream, frozen yogurt and sweetened gelatin.
Beverages: Fruit juices, fruit drinks, fruit punches, regular sodas, smoothies, sports drinks and sweetened coffee drinks.
Other foods: Sweetened cereals, flavored yogurts and sports or energy bars
Starch: Concentrated starchy foods -- Bagels, pasta, rice, potatoes, large rolls, pizza, pretzels, popcorn, chips, many fat-free foods and ready-to-eat cereals. Choose small portions of these due to their high carbohydrate density. Use whole grains and legumes (starchy beans) in preference to refined starches.
Best Food Choices
Fruit: Choose fresh fruits in season for best flavor and nutrition. Avoid fruit juices even fresh squeezed, because of their high sugar content. Unsweetened frozen fruit and canned fruit that is rinsed in water may also be included.

Dhoni vs Deepika

His super sixes have sent the nation full of cricket crazy fans into a tizzy, but there’s more news on the dashing Mahendra Singh Dhoni off-field, too.
The ace batsman has been bowled over. Hang in here… because it’s only a lovely lady we’re talking about. Sources reveal that Mahi is quite charmed by the ‘D’ gal, the newest Bollywood hottie Deepika Padukone.
Apparently he has a huge crush on her and has even asked his journo friends about the lovely lady. In fact, a birdie goes on to say that recently Dhoni asked SRK about when he could see a special screening of Om Shanti Om .
Director Farah Khan, tongue-in-cheek, said when asked to …
confirm the tidbit, “Why don’t you ask Deepika if she is a cricket fan?” Even King Khan was flattered to know that the Indian captain was such a fan, not that the razor-sharp actor didn’t know where this shot was coming from.
With badminton champ’s daughter, a cricketer and a screen hockey coach — this could be one ‘match’ we wouldn’t want to miss. And if you were to ask us… we’d say Dhoni is on a good wicket!
Dhoni invited Deepika to watch T20 match. Najare mili ,chupke se bahut kuch kah gaye.
